Julie and Stinky

Sunday, February 10, 2008

Julie recently turned 6 months, and for some time she has been begging me for a pet, I told her that pets are big responsibilities and that she will need to learn to be responsible before she can be trusted to take care of one.
She's almost seven months now and she has been a real good girl, so today for our free day Clara and I went to Petco and got a short haired male hamster plus a cage, ratball, and accessories.
I wanted to name him Pinky but Paula prompted by her obsession with copying me has decided to get a female and call her Pinky, so after much deliberation I have decided that his name shall be Stinky.
Julie and I love stinky. Unfortunately Clara fears all animals, but with time I think she'll come to love Stinky like Jesus wants her to. So today our family has increased by one, welcome home Stinky.
Below are some pictures from today and of Stinky.

Oh I wish you better luck than the hamster we had when Connor was a baby. Actually it was Brendon's hamster and we named him "Shagadelic." Well one day Shaggy got out of the cage and we found him dead weeks later (let's hope he wasn't just hibernating). For some reason (probably because we got him around the time Connor was born) I had come to see a little bit of my baby in Shaggy and when he died I didn't think I'd ever recover. Blame it on hormones.

She's so cute! She looks just like you, Jason, she has that same mischievous look that you have in all your baby pictures.
Have fun with the pet...while it lasts. We tried on Lil's birthday with the whole rodent thing (guinea pigs) they lasted about 2 weeks before giving up the ghost. She didn't quite understand why they lay so still with blood coming out of their mouths, so we tried our best to explain and then decided to leave it at that...there's just too much tragedy in having rodents. But I hope you fare better than we did. We believe they died of intense heat exhaustion...
I can't believe she's so old, time is flying. Happy for you guys.

Oh, I love it!!!! SO PRECIOUS! Julie DOES look just like you did, Jason, when you were that age, except I think she is even more smiley than you used to be (and that was a lot). Of course she is much prettier than you were. She has her mommy's eyes and chin for sure. Love to all. Hope to see you soon.

Hey...I was trying to keep your male straight...'pinky' is a bit gay.
And when have a ever copied you...you getting married and having a baby was coping me.

Paula you obviously have never seen Pinky and the Brain. I don't think there has ever been a cooler rodent then the totally non-gay male genetically altered lab rat Pinky.

heh...I remember when David, Heidi, and Jamie got a hamster in SLP for Brendon and someone spun it around in the wheel to many times and killed it. Then she claimed that it was just sleeping. We never let her have any peace after that.

And Julie is growing up fast.
